A Master of Science in Project Leadership and Management degree from the College of Business and Economics at Regis University gives students the opportunity to transform project management into a leadership experience. The degree is designed to provide a framework for skills in leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making as well as project management values and business functions.

The program is aligned with and focused on the Talent Triangle of Technical Skills, Strategic Management, and Leadership from the Project Management Institute (PMI), the premier comprehensive continuing education program for the project management field. In addition, the College of Business and Economics is one of only 1,600 schools in the world that are designated as Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.) for the PMI.

The master’s degree in project leadership and management prepares students for a number of career opportunities. Since project leadership and management is practiced in every industry, it may fall under one of many titles such as project manager or project coordinator. However, nearly every function in every business involves someone responsible for managing and completing defined projects, and the master’s degree is designed to produce effective managers.

Students pursuing the degree will learn about risk management, solving problems using critical thinking skills, integrating projects with organizational goals, communicating with project stakeholders, applying project management methodologies, utilizing business intelligence to drive decisions, and incorporating Jesuit principles, implications, and ethical perspectives into all project activities. Courses are available online or in-person at the school’s Denver campus and are offered in an eight-week accelerated format.

Students must complete 30 credit hours to earn the degree, including nine hours of core courses in business intelligence and analytics, leading a new era, and critical reading and writing. Students must also complete 18 semester hours of required courses that cover the topics of leading change and innovation, project monitoring and delivering, management of project performance, strategic and business management for project managers, leading projects in contemporary organizations, and delivering organization excellence. Students round out their degree with a three-semester-hour capstone course in leading responsible organizations.

Online students who graduate with a degree in project leadership and management may also take advantage of the Center for Career and Professional Development, where they will find advice, training, and resources to help them establish and meet their career goals. The Center also helps students choose a major if undecided as well as explore and find a new career path within their chosen fields of study.

About Regis University

Located in Denver, Colorado, Regis University, formerly known as Regis College, is a co-educational, private, Jesuit, Roman Catholic school. It was founded under the name “Las Vegas College” in 1877 in Las Vegas, New Mexico by the Society of Jesus and is one of 28 schools that belong to the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. In 1884, the Jesuits were invited by the Bishop of Denver to create a college in Morrison, Colorado, where Sacred Heart College was operating. Regis University Application Requirements

Regis University takes every factor into consideration when reviewing applications. Not only does the school look at academic qualifications, but it also assesses applicants’ accomplishments, values, aspirations, fit with Regis University’s mission, and experience. In order to be admitted into the College of Business and Economics, students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree if obtained outside the country. Students must complete the online graduate application and pay the $50 nonrefundable application fee. Those who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Regis do not have to pay the application fee. Other required documents include an admission essay, a current resume, and official degree-bearing transcripts from the school where the bachelor’s degree was earned. In addition, a faculty interview may be necessary, and GRE/GMAT scores may be required at the discretion of the committee.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students pursuing the Master of Science in Project Leadership and Management will pay $885 per credit hour for their degree. Regis University provides a number of forms of financial aid to students looking for ways to pay for their education, and the average financial aid award hovers around $22,000.
