Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)

Structured to develop students’ professional business skills, expand technological literacy, teach broad business functions, and foster a global perspective, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree can be earned in a four-year full-time program for a total of 120 credit hours. While each student is required to take the business core courses in global corporate citizenship, principles of financial accounting, information technology, business finance, operations management, international business, organizational theory, marketing, and business policy, the curriculum does enable students to tailor their degree program through a specialization. Kogod students may choose a specialization in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Information Systems and Technology, International Business, Management, or Marketing.

Minor in Business Administration

For non-business majors who are seeking to benefit from a broad coverage of the common body of knowledge in business, the Kogod School of Business offers a Minor in Business Administration to students enrolled in any major degree program at American University. Choosing an undergraduate business administration major provides students with a valuable opportunity to both enhance their knowledge and professional capabilities as well as expand their career possibilities. In order to successfully receive a Minor in Business Administration, students must fulfill 18 credit hours, including at least 9 credit hours at the 300-level or above, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Offered in either a full-time or professional part-time format to accommodate each student’s individual learning needs, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program features an immersive curriculum that provides students with knowledge and skills in both domestic and global business through hands-on experience with business leaders. For a total of 26 core credits and 23 elective credits, the program can be completed within four semesters full-time or seven semesters part-time. Outside of the classroom learning environment, graduate students also have the ability to participate in internships, career development workshops, and volunteer opportunities for valuable practical experience through the Kogod Center for Career Development or the Kogod Leadership and Applied Business Lab.

Georgetown University

McDonough School of Business

Minor in Business Administration

For undergraduate students from outside the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown, the Minor in Business Administration is available to provide a broad exposure to the world of business specifically for non-business majors. In order to achieve the minor, students must complete at least five undergraduate-level business courses in financial accounting, global business environment, organizational behavior, marketing, operations management, business law, business technologies, or corporate finance management. In addition to expanding career possibilities and providing marketable practical business skills that can be applied to nearly every industry, the minor can be used to waive certain foundation courses for graduates interested in pursuing a master’s degree in business administration after graduation.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Designed for integrative learning anchored in a global approach to infuse global discussions throughout the curriculum and develop a worldview perspective, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program prepares students with the analytical and persuasive skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive business marketplace. Offered in either a full-time or part-time evening format, the curriculum encourages students to develop specialized knowledge and focus on specific industries that pertain to their own individual career interests. Through the program’s renowned signature Global Business Experience, students are able to gain hands-on experience in a professional-level consulting project that builds upon students’ previous experiences, talents, careers, connections, and global mindset.

Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)

Recognized as the 31st best program of its kind worldwide by Financial Times magazine, the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program is designed to strengthen interpersonal relationships and sharpen business acumen for working professionals from a broad range of industries and functional areas. Focused on the themes of globalization, collaboration, and integration of knowledge, the cohort-based program begins in August each year and spans a total of 20 months in a format that accommodates the busy schedules of fast-paced executives.
