The Governor has focused on economic development in the state, and for that reason, accredited business administration degree programs in Nebraska will gain even more importance in several industries. In fact, according to the Governor’s office, four industries have been designated as retention targets due to employment challenges and competitive share. These industries include:

Creighton University
Heider College of Business
The Heider College of Business is named for Charles Heider and his wife, Mary, following a multimillion dollar donation the couple gave to the university in 2013. This was the first named university business school in Nebraska. Mr. Heider was a 1949 graduate of the Creighton business school and has believed for some time that the enrollment and faculty of the business school should expand. His naming donation was designed to renovate the business college facility and make other improvements to the school.
Business Administration
A minor in Business Administration provides students with a basic understanding of business with instruction in markets, financial statements and other aspects of the business world. The Business Minor is only available to students who are not enrolled in a Heider College of Business major. Courses required under the minor include:
- Introduction to Financial Accounting
- Introductory Microeconomics
- Managerial Process and Organizational Behavior
- Principles of Marketing
In addition, students must choose six credits from the following:
- Management Information Systems
- Legal Environment of Business

Business Administration – Bachelor’s Degree
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration through professional studies at Creighton provides students with a premier business education with a focus on ethics and values. Classes are offered in flexible schedules with classes offered in the daytime and evening. Students can combine day and night classes to fit into their schedule so they can meet work and family obligations. Students must complete 128-credit hours and maintain a Quality Point Average of 2.0 for all courses and an average QPA of 2.00 for courses in the concentration. Students must also complete Strategic Management with a grade of “C” or better.
Master of Business Administration
Students without a background in business may obtain a general management education while those with a business degree or significant background may obtain a more advanced, specialized degree. By offering the ability to customize the degree based on the student’s background, graduates are better able to apply their skills to career goals. Students must have a bachelor’s degree and an acceptable level of scholarship from an accredited college or university. Students must also show that they have completed at least one statistics course as part of their undergraduate studies. A non-credit statistics tutorial is available from the college for a fee.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is offered through the university’s online degree program and is designed for working adults with job or family obligations. Master of Business Administration
The Master of Business Administration degree is a professional degree that offers students challenging, experiential education whose career goals are to improve their careers or move into a new career. The curriculum was developed and continues to be reviewed by the advisory board of the university. Students develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills based on today’s global economy. Students are provided many opportunities to enhance their skills in management through experiential learning working on projects with actual businesses. Courses are offered with flexibility for students who have family and work obligations. Students may choose from blended/hybrid classes as well that do not require weekly on-campus meetings.

The Business Administration program through the College of Business provides students with a broad business administration education. Students choose courses within the college in any combination. Students that need background in two or more areas of business are able to create a customized program to meet their goals. In today’s rapidly changing business world, organizations often seek candidates with a generalist background in administration as their broad knowledge allows them to adapt to change more easily. In addition, generalists may be suited for a wide variety of roles within the organization.
MBA On Campus
The MBA program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the business world. Students gain skills in problem-solving, team building, ethics and leadership. Students use case analysis and presentations as part of the curriculum in order to provide them with a more real-world education. The combination of learning styles provides students with in-depth knowledge related to the business world. The program is flexible, allowing students to further their education with a schedule that meets their needs. Students must have a bachelor’s degree and a 3.0 GPA, as well as a GMAT score of 600, although a comparable GRE score may be considered. Students must provide three references with contact information and a personal statement. Students must also provide a copy of a current resume.
