Core requirements cover topics such as global management strategy and policy, leadership and organization, operations management, information systems and technology, financial management, communication skills, financial accounting, and global environment of management. The sport management-specific courses will educate students in areas such as sport business analytics, the financial aspects of sport management, sport marketing, sport law, and managing the sport enterprise. Students will round out their degree with either a class on the management and administration of intercollegiate athletics or a class on the management of sport, entertainment, and convention venues.

Florida Atlantic University Accreditation Details

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award doctorate, specialist, master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degrees. In addition to regional accreditation, many of the school’s colleges, as well as distinct programs within these colleges, are also accredited by discipline-specific organizations. There are currently 20 different outside accrediting agencies responsible for reviewing and accrediting FAU’s programs. Accreditation is important to employers and prospective futures and is frequently essential in degree programs that lead to licensure. It also serves to indicate that the school has met or exceeded the high standards of quality set by the accrediting agency and allows schools to request funding in the form of financial aid for its students. The accreditation process requires a written report that is typically followed by a site visit by a team composed of practitioners, academics from other institutions, representatives from the accrediting body, and sometimes students.

Florida Atlantic University Application Requirements

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Sport Management application process is accomplished in several steps. First, students must complete a supplemental application for the department and submit a personal essay, a current resume, unofficial transcripts from all previously attended institutions, and unofficial Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores. Next, the student must complete a graduate application and submit official transcripts from all universities and colleges listed on the applicant’s bachelor’s degree transcript. No grade-point average (GPA) calculation is required. However, students must hold a bachelor’s degree in business or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, but business prerequisites may be required in the latter scenario. The final step is to ensure that FAU’s Student Health Services Office has up-to-date immunization records on file.
