Business Degrees and Programs
Students with an interest in business will find multiple programs they can enroll in at Post University. The Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post is the department responsible for all these programs. Post offers both associate degree and certificate programs in business both online and off. Students can earn a business degree in marketing, management or accounting. Those who want to earn a four-year degree can enroll in a Bachelor of Science program in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Management, Marketing or Sports Management.
Instead of just offering one business program like other schools do, Post offers a number of options that allow students to customize their degrees based on the areas of business that they find the most appealing. Each program has concentrations available that help students further customize their degrees too. For example, those majoring in finance can pick a concentration in personal financial planning, financial planning, and analysis, corporate finance, general finance or financial services and planning. Students who complete the university’s accounting program can further their studies at the graduate level, which qualifies them to sit for any of the professional licensing exams in the field. Post also offers certificate programs in accounting, forensic accounting, and human resource management.
Certificate programs are also available at the graduate level for Post University students. They can earn a certificate in corporate innovation, leadership, finance, project management or marketing. The university offers a Master of Science in Accounting with a CPA track that helps students prepare for the CPA exam. All graduate programs are available online. The university also offers a Master of Business Administration online that features eight concentration options, including concentrations in leadership, corporate innovation, marketing, and finance.
Post University Accreditation Details
Regional accreditation like the accreditation that Post University has from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is important for a few different reasons. Many students like taking classes on one campus and transferring their credits to another school and those students can only transfer credits between two schools with the same type of accreditation. Regional accreditation also allows students to see if they qualify for financial aid with the FAFSA. All the business degree programs available from this university have accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) too.
About Post University
Post University is a private university based out of Waterbury, Connecticut that opened in 1890 as the Matoon Shorthand School. Unlike the degree programs that it offers today, it initially offered programs for secretaries and assistants that taught them how to use shorthand and other basics of business writing. When Harry Post took over the operations of the school, he renamed it the Waterbury Business College and changed its curriculum. Its new curriculum included more advanced business courses. The school grew quickly under his guidance and now uses his name to honor him. Post also went by the name of Teiko Post University for more than a decade because of an affiliation that it had with another university in Japan.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Post within the top 20 on its list of the top online degree programs in the United States today. Those programs allow students to major in one of the dozens of fields and earn a degree through the university’s online system without taking a single class on its campus. In addition to its main campus in Waterbury, the university operates a few smaller campuses that it calls regional and satellite extension centers. These centers offer students the resources they need for success in college. Post University is now a for-profit university with an enrollment of nearly 4,000 students.
Post University Application Requirements
Students can easily apply to any of the online business programs that Post University offers at the graduate or undergraduate levels. Any online student can use a simple application that the university offers online. Post does not charge an application fee, but the university does ask for some basic information from each student. Undergrads must use the drop-down menu on the application to pick online studies, and they will also need to select the field they want to study. Both applications also ask for contact information from the student and how the student heard about the university. Post uses that information to better market itself to future students.
Undergrads need to provide the university with official transcripts from their high school students. Some undergrads also need to provide proof of the college courses or credits that they completed in high school. Those with a grade point average of 2.0 or less must submit an admissions essay as part of the application process. Those with a higher GPA can skip this step. Graduate students will fill out a document called the Post University Transcript Request Form, which gives the university the right to request official transcripts from any college that the student attended. Students can submit their own transcripts, but they must ensure that the transcripts list their full names, dates they attended each school and the most recent grades they received. Transcripts should also list where the student has a bachelor’s degree or when the student will complete that degree.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Post University charges a lower tuition rate for online students than it does for traditional students. While traditional undergrads pay nearly $30,000 for tuition each year, online students pay just $13,880 per year in tuition and fees. Undergrads can take a full course load in both the fall and spring semesters for this amount. Graduate students can also save money taking classes online. Full-time graduate students pay $7,040 per year as an online student. If they took classes on the campus, they would pay more than $8,000 a year.
The university offers convenient payment plans for students who need to pay their own costs, and it works with tuition reimbursement plans. Military students can use their GI Bill benefits when paying their costs. Both undergrads and graduate students enrolling in a full-time online program can also apply for financial aid. Using the FAFSA helps students see if they qualify for any loans or grants. The Post University business school offers a scholarship application for students who want to apply for one or more of the scholarships that this school offers for business majors enrolled in a full-time program.
