In 1884, a young man asked Russell Conwell, a Philadelphia minister, if he would tutor him in the evening. In a short time, Conwell found himself teaching several working adults who could only attend after working hours in the basement of the Baptist temple where he preached.

In 1888, Conwell obtained a charter for Temple College, a name taken from the school’s humble beginnings, with the objective to teach anyone who wanted to gain higher education, regardless of their background or financial situation. Although the City of Philadelphia granted a charter, they did not grant the school the right to confer degrees. It was not until 1907 that Temple earned the right to grant degrees and became Temple University.

Today, there are more than 38,000 students attending Temple University, studying on eight campuses in 17 different schools and colleges. Temple has been named one of the country’s most comprehensive and diverse universities. In the Greater Philadelphia area, 1 in 7 graduates has a degree from Temple University. Online Bachelor of Business Administration

The online Bachelor of Business Administration offered at Temple University features the same faculty and curriculum taught in traditional classrooms but with the flexibility of an online format. Students can attend both part- and full-time. The degree is available in six concentrations which provides students with a customized degree program valued by employers. The concentrations include:

Students develop quantitative reasoning skills as well as strong communication skills. Graduates are able to identify problems, generate solutions and come to reasonable conclusions while also understanding the ethical responsibilities of leaders in the business world. Overall, 124 credit hours are required for the program. The degree requires 32 hours of General Education, 41 hours of Lower-Division Foundation requirements, 18 hours of Upper-Division Foundation requirements, 18 hours of major requirements and 15 hours of electives.

Online students have access to the Center for Student Professional Development which offers career and professional development advice. After graduation, 94 percent of students who use CSPD have positions in their field of study.

The online program is structured around asynchronous videos, lectures, and assignments although classes include regular live interactions through conferencing technology. These interactions are scheduled Monday through Thursday between 6 and 10 PM.

Temple University Accreditation Details

Temple University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. This indicates to parents, students, and employers that students are provided high-quality education and that the school undergoes periodic evaluation as confirmation. Accreditation also demonstrates that the school has the resources to meet their goals and that they strive to improve any areas identified as needing improvement during the periodic evaluation. Temple University Application Requirements

Undergraduate students must complete an online application and pay the application fee. Official transcripts and SAT or ACT scores are also required. Almost half of Temple applicants transfer from other colleges and universities. Transfer students must complete an application and provide official high school as well as college transcripts. Temple requires official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Students who are transferring more than 15 credits must have an average GPA of 3.1 in order to apply. Students with 15 or more credits do not need to provide ACT or SAT scores. Students who have earned 30 or more credits are not required to provide high school transcripts. Transfer students must submit an essay and information on any extracurricular activities.

Graduate admissions vary depending on the program of study chosen. Students are encouraged to speak to a graduate admissions counselor before applying.

Students who hold a current bachelor’s degree are not permitted to obtain a second bachelor’s degree at the Fox Business School. Students may take undergraduate classes as a continuing studies student or they may apply to attend a graduate degree program.

Temple University Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate and graduate tuition at Temple University varies depending on the program selected. The online Bachelor of Business Administration is $595 per credit hour. Financial aid is available, and students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. Once students are accepted into Temple, they are automatically reviewed for scholarship qualification. Students with a GPA of 3.3 or higher are more likely to receive scholarships. Students may also qualify for grants that do not have to be repaid. Parent and student loans are also available although they must be repaid after graduation.
