Jacksonville University

Davis College of Business

Located in Jacksonville Florida Jacksonville University is a private university and offers over 70 majors and programs at the undergraduate level as well as several Master’s level programs. The University is divided into six colleges: The College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Fine Arts, the Davis College of Business (DCOB), the School of Education, the School of Nursing, and the School of Orthodontics. Bachelor of Business Administration

The Davis College of Business offers three degrees in Business: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with majors in: Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, Marketing, and Sport Business. Minor in Business Administration

Jacksonville University offers a Minor in General Business for non-business majors only. The program requires fifteen credit hours with the following core courses: Principles of Accounting I, Principles of Accounting II, The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business, Organizational Behavior and Leadership Skills and the Principles of Marketing

Master of Business Administration

The Davis College of Business offers two options for earning a Masters of Business administration:
1. Flex MBA program – consisting of 35 credit hours for a General Master of Business Administration or and MBA with accounting/finance or Management concentration for 38 credit hours. There are additional foundation course credit hours that may be required depending on your background. The program is designed for the working professional to continue in their current career while working toward their graduate degree. With courses delivered in 8 weeklong modules you will attend class one night per week for each course taken.
2. One Year full time /day program Master of Business Administration (MBA)- this is a full-time day program that allows the student to build a foundation of core business knowledge while strengthening leadership skills a priority. In this program Jacksonville’s leading business professionals mentor students with hands on work experience through internship. This program will build allow the student to graduate from the program with solid business prowess improved leadership knowledge and skills. The curriculum concentrates on developing problem solving, decision making and communication skills.

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

The Davis Doctor of Business Administration degree program is one of the few AACSB-accredited programs in the nation. Candidates in this program apply analytical tools to solve work challenges and problems. The program is based on Leadership, Business Analytics and Globalization focusing on leadership within organizations and ethical practices in business in the modern world. Curriculum emphasis application of advanced business analytics and evidence based decision-making. It is an ideal program for executives and those aspiring to become consultants. Classes are held bi-weekly on Friday afternoons and Saturdays along with individual work through online exchanges and meeting with faculty and colleagues. This degree can be earned in a minimum of three years. Candidates complete four semesters and two summer terms.

Candidates choose a business related concentration in the second stage and dedicate their third year to doctoral level research and writing in a business area of their choice. The acceptance of a dissertation by a dissertation committee and 60 credit hours are required to graduate.

The Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business offers a Master of Business Administration in three programs:
1. The Early Advantage MBA – this is a full-time ay program for recent college graduates who have little or no work experience. Students can complete this program in sixteen to twenty one month.
2. The Professional MBA – this program is a twenty four to twenty seven month program for students who have a wide range of professional and educations experiences in the workplace.
3. The Executive MBA – An intense comprehensive program to fast track your career that is available within fifteen months and is applicable to mid to senior level professionals in business who need a flexible education. Classes are a combination of online and Saturday classes.

Bloomberg Business Week ranks the rolling MBA program first in Florida and ninth in the nation for 2013, while US News and World Report ranks the part time MBD as 82nd in the nation and 107th for Full-Time MBA in 2012.

Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA)

The Executive Doctorate in Business Administration was designed for top to mid level executives that already have earned their masters degree in business or related advanced degree and want to work full time while working toward their Doctorate degree. The program provides the student the ability to work with a faculty advisor during this three-year program while attending classes only one weekend per month. Students will experience a yearlong dissertation to enhance their business skills and knowledge and research within the program that can be applied directly to current business issues and the challenges in their careers in the business industry.

The University of Tampa

John H. Sykes College of Business

Located in downtown Tampa Florida, The University of Tampa (also know as UT) is a private university with 7200 students enrolled in 150 undergraduate degree programs and 12 masters programs in business administration, accounting, finance, education, marketing, instructional design and technology, nursing and creative writing.

The John H. Sykes College of Business combines liberal arts foundation with a business core curriculum. Students are able to interact learning practical experiences with the local business community through internships and consulting projects. With a relationship with more than 700 Tampa Bay leaders they are provided opportunities for professional networking. The John H. Sykes College of Business was named for the seventh year in a row by the Princeton Review as an outstanding business school for its 2013 edition of Best 296 Business Schools. The vision of the business program is to be recognized as the Leading Business School in the Southeast and to prepare students to be future business leaders in the global marketplace. Areas of specialization in study include undergraduate majors and minors, graduate degrees and certificate programs.

Business Major

The curriculum for the Sykes College of Business (COB) integrates a strong foundation in liberal arts with a broad business program base with functional specialization. Students in the first two years focus on liberal arts and science background developing a foundation and understanding of the social, cultural international, economical, political, scientific and technological existing in organizations and individuals. Courses then build a solid business core to enter careers as managers or business professionals. Included are understanding of behavioral managerial and organizations concepts as they apply to successful organizations as they interact in the global marketplace. Also included in the curriculum is an opportunity for student to specialize in a specific are of business expertise to gain greater use of business tools and technology.

Before completing 62 credit hours, students who want to graduate with a major in accounting, business economics, Finance, management, entrepreneurship, financial enterprise systems, management information systems, international business, or marketing are required to declare a major in one or more of these areas. Local business and community opportunities provide hands on presentations and internships with area executives.

Minor in Business Administration

The College of Business offers a minor in business administration with thirty-two credit hours required for completion. Courses required for this minor include: Introduction to Global Business, Financial Accounting information, Managerial accounting, Managerial Statistics, Information Systems, Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics. Additional electives are Financial Management, principles of Management and principals of Marketing.

Master of Business Administration

The graduate program is offered in three formats and offers twelve masters degree programs and nine concentrations:
1. Full-Time Day Program – designed for accelerated completion with eight to sixteen hours per semester of daytime classes.
2. Part-Time Evening Program – signed the student who are working full time and need to complete at their own pace. Students must attend class once a week from 6 to 9:40 p.m. Coursework can be completed in as little as two years.
3. The Executive MBA Program – for professionals who have completed seven or more years of work experience but still need flexibility to complete the program. Saturday classes are offered every other week and allow this program to completed in twenty-four months.
Concentrations for all three programs are available in Finance, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Information Systems Management and Innovation Management.
