Drury University

Breech School of Business Administration and Economics

The Breech School of Business Administration and Economics was named for Ernest R. Breech who attended Drury College from 1915 to 1917. He moved to Chicago where he took a position as an accountant, passing the CPA examination in 1921 at the University of Illinois with the highest grade, an accomplishment he referred to throughout his life. After earning his degree, Mr. Breech accepted a position with Yellow Cab Company which merged with General Motors in 1925. Eventually, Mr. Breech became an executive with Ford Motor Company, eventually becoming Chairman of the Board. He resigned that position, and after a year of leisure, became the leader of Trans World Airlines, which was struggling. Mr. Breech rebuilt the company into a profitable organization. The business school at Drury was renamed for Mr. Breech after he made a sizeable financial commitment to the college which allowed them to dedicate a building specifically for the business education of students.

Business Administration Minor

The Business Administration Minor through the Breech School at Drury University introduces students to the foundation of business using core courses that provide a broad, non-specific introduction to business principles. The minor prepares students for entry-level positions in a wide range of careers while offering a business background to students who are not business majors. Courses in the minor include:

Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Program

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Drury provides an opportunity for students to gain an understanding of business in today’s society. Students learn business practices, economic processes, the connection between business and economics and issues that confront industries today. The program is a 124-credit hour course of study, with 37-credit hours dedicated to general education.

Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration at Drury prepares students for advanced positions in the business world by focusing on leadership, teamwork, strategic thinking and a recognition of cultural differences. The program is in two parts – Leadership Core and Track/Emphasis. The Leadership Core includes eight courses that represent major disciplines related to business administration such as:

  • Corporate Investment and Valuation
  • Strategic Advantage through Technology and Information
  • Corporate Responsibility, Leadership and Ethics
  • Strategic Organization and Human Resources Management
  • Measuring and Reporting Financial and Statistical Information

Students must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and earn a minimum score of 450. Students who obtain a score over 600 will be reimbursed for the cost of the examination. Students must have completed:

Missouri State University

College of Business

The College of Business is the largest of its type in Missouri as well as five surrounding states. There are four departments in the college:

  • Computer Information Systems
  • Finance
  • General Business
  • Management and Marketing

The School of Accountancy is also included in the business college. In addition, there are two separately-accredited departments – Fashion and Interior Design along with Construction and Technology Management. Even though the college is the largest in the Midwest, students are still provided individual attention through a devoted faculty, Business Advisement Center and specialized Career Center.

MBA Program

The MBA program at Missouri State challenges students to embrace and thrive in an ever-changing business climate. The program includes traditional business education combined with radical thinking that encourages students to question what they are learning. Although the program is structured, it offers flexibility that allows students to gain knowledge and follow their career passion. Students must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a GPA of 2.75 for the last 60-credit hours. Students must also have a GMAT score of at least 400.

Office of Graduate Studies

Missouri Western State University

Craig School of Business

Missouri Western State University began in 1915 when the St. Joseph School District determined that if at least 20 people were interested, higher education courses just like those offered at the University of Missouri would be offered at Central High School. The college began that fall with 35 students as a junior college. The Steven L. Craig School of Business helps students gain the experience in business skills necessary to succeed in the business world. Graduates are able to begin the business career with a solid foundation they can build on to throughout their professional life.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

An average of 120 students each year earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, helping them launch their career in many different industries. Students are also able to enjoy a vibrant campus life, the chance to enjoy many extracurricular activities and other career building opportunities. Students may customize their studies with majors in accounting, finance, management and marketing. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 in all business courses in order to complete the program.

Helzberg School of Management

Rockhurst University’s Helzberg School of Management is named for the former President and CEO of Helzberg Diamonds, Barnett C. Helzberg, Jr. and his wife, Shirley. Saint Louis University

John Cook School of Business

The Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University is named for John Cook who made a significant donation to the university in 1999. The John and Lucy Cook Hall was constructed specifically for the school of business due to the generosity of the Cooks. The school is the oldest business school west of the Mississippi River and is located in a large, metropolitan area. It offers highly ranked programs with a focus on career planning, internships and other opportunities designed to give students a head-start on their career goals.

Undergraduate Business Programs

The cook School of Business offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) that provides a foundation in business to prepare students for advanced studies should they decide to continue their higher education or for rewarding careers. During the fall and spring semesters, students study abroad in Hong Kong for two weeks in order to develop knowledge of international business practices. Students must provide a current resume and two letters of recommendation. In addition, official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be submitted as well as official GMAT scores and a personal statement. All candidates are interviewed before acceptance into the program.

PhD in International Business and Marketing

The PhD in International Business and Marketing program through the Cook School of Business provides an intensive learning experience designed to prepare graduates for careers in academics. Students are given the opportunity to teach undergraduate classes at the university as part of their graduate assistantship. Students must complete requirements for a Certificate in University Teaching in order to graduate. Students have the opportunity to attend conferences and to work with faculty to develop their research skills through coursework, teaching, seminar experience and dissertations.
